March 2021–present.  University of Colorado, Boulder, CO.  Initially Program Data Analyst, promoted to Senior Data Analyst in March, 2022.

  • Working as a Senior Data Analyst in the Health and Wellness Department, using various tools to report data from the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Design and develop dashboards using the Tableau online interface. Dashboards improve the timeliness of reporting. Dashboards also improve stakeholders’ ability to perform ad-hoc analysis of data in the EHR, resulting in improvements in front-end and back-end services.
  • Perform reporting in Excel as needed, including using charts and pivot tables to summarize data and Ablebits or built-in Excel functions to merge related spreadsheets.
  • Support Quality Improvement projects, including making recommendations for study structures and providing data analysis and data visualization.
  • Developed Python programs to process extractions from an EHR system for reporting to the state system and to support reconciling any differences. The programs improved efficiency and accuracy, reducing a daily 20-minute manual transformation process to less than five minutes and a periodic data reconciliation process from a few days for 5,000 rows to at most 2 hours.
  • Designed and developed a Python program to score Psychology assessments and analyze the resulting scores for significant changes, as well as significant differences between patient populations. Results demonstrated the value of services provided and identified additional areas of need.

August 2016-June 2019.  Roaring Fork School District, Glenwood Springs, CO.  Occupational Therapist, Assistive Technology Team Member, and SWAAAC Coordinator.

Worked as an OT and also provided technical services, as needed, including:

  • Identified the need for additional support for assistive technology (AT), and so spearheaded several efforts: developed a knowledge management repository, trained staff, and served as the district’s Statewide Alternative Augmentative Assistive Communication (SWAAAC) Coordinator. Efforts resulted in increased knowledge of AT across service provider disciplines and broader use of AT.
  • Developed an Excel spreadsheet for the OT team to compute results from a standardized assessment, employing conditional formatting to highlight extreme values. Reduced risk of inaccurate reporting and saved the team hours of work doing calculations.

March 2011-May 2011. EBS Healthcare, Greeley CO. Contract Occupational Therapist.

  • Developed an Excel spreadsheet to compute IEP service time due to each student, based on IEP dates and weekly contact time required. The spreadsheet used conditional formatting to highlight services that were out of compliance with IEP commitments and resulted in improved tracking and compliance.
  • Developed a spreadsheet that computed results from a standardized assessment and used conditional formatting to highlight extreme values, resulting in improved accuracy and efficiency.

September 2014–April 2015, Contract Microsoft Access Consultant.  August 2008–May 2010, Graduate Research Assistant. Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO.

Supported a systematic mapping research project by designing and developing a custom Microsoft Access database based on the team’s data coding guidelines.

  • Microsoft Access development included using the visual front end as well as developing custom SQL scripts and VB script.
  • Used Excel to manage an extract, transform, and load (ETL) process to move coded research data from an EndNote® repository to Microsoft Access.
  • Provided training and documentation to support the use of the Microsoft Access research tool.
  • Co-authored a published peer-reviewed article describing the innovative approach to data tracking and analysis for systematic mapping research projects.

August 2001–August 2008.  Ascendant Technology, Denver, CO.  Senior Consultant.

Senior web programming consultant in numerous disparate engagements, with a wide variety of roles, including lead developer, mentor, trainer, and project leader.

  • Projects leveraged Lotus Notes Enterprise collaboration software to store semi-structured data for a variety of purposes, including prospect and customer relationship management and knowledge management. Many applications provided workflow processing such as approval steps for knowledge documents and ticklers to remind salespeople to reach out to prospects. Most implementations offered finely tuned user- and group-level security.
  • Designed site layout and navigation for internal and external web sites using Lotus Notes/Domino, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Developed front ends in Java to report public daily financial rates using SQL interfacing with a Sybase database.
